Othandweni Family Care Centre in Soweto is home to 30 children in the nursery and 60 children in the five cottages on the property. At this facility, Jo’burg Child Welfare provides a safe and loving environment for all of its residents by catering to their emotional, spiritual, and educational needs. We strive to provide these children with a well-balanced, stable home.

In December 2011, the men of Rho Phi Lambda, and their families and friends also volunteered to support the Othandweni Orphanage. The orphanage cares for 90 children in Soweto between the ages of 0 & 18 years. As part of the Chapter’s effort to support the orphanage, the Chapter and their supporters helped the kids develop gift cards which were sold online to raise funds for the great work that Johannesburg Child Welfare was doing to care for orphans, vulnerable children and abused women
